About
The WHAM Project (Wisdom, Humanity, Academic, and Movement) is an independent charity, whose aim is to enrich education, in areas where there is limited or no access to a rounded education. Originally founded in 2010, The WHAM Project has grown with the help from a small group of volunteers consisting of both University students and industry professionals; The WHAM Project’s work starts with the improvement of a pre-existing school in Iraqi Kurdistan, for more information on the school and its location please visit our Projects page.
The WHAM Project’s goal is to identify areas that are most deficient in a rounded education and work towards providing this whilst ensuring it is accessible to all. In order to achieve this we work towards:
- Advancing existing education by updating any pre-existing facilities and providing additional facilities where necessary with a professional and rounded approach to teaching and the curriculum.
- Encouraging more girls to attend school and to reach children who are not already enrolled in primary or secondary education.
- Enriching education by providing teaching tools and resources as well as a fun, healthy learning environment with dedicated teachers.
We work with the community to identify problems and create solutions that are tailored to them and the best interests of their children in order to create a positive change for the whole community, we start our work with a pre-existing school in Iraqi Kurdistan (More information is available on our Projects page).
We also liaise with schools in this country to raise awareness of the opportunities that are available to children in the United Kingdom that aren’t everywhere else in the world. We believe that an appreciation for the level of education that is readily available in the UK will encourage children here with their own studies and promote the advantages of both Further and Higher Education after they leave school.
